8 Ways to Party Responsibly with Cannabis

8 Ways to Responsibly Have a Cannabis Party

Summer is coming up so that means BBQ, pool, beach party season is here. Whether you are attending a party, hosting a party or maybe even crashing a party that has cannabis it is important that you are responsible. Below we have listed out a 8 ideas on how to be the life of the party instead of the party pooper!

1. Making and Serving Edibles

One of the biggest trends for parties is bringing cannabis infused edibles. And some of us, like me, have been watching The Great British Bake Off, and are ready to show off our skills..with a little twist of course. Since we are most likely not professionals it is important to know how to doses them correctly for everyone and to make sure these adults-only treats do not get into children’s hands. With that said here are some lockable book boxes great for keeping cannabis products safe and an edible dosing calculator that we always recommend using.

2. Label and Ask about the Edibles

For those of us who are making the edibles, be sure to label everything correctly. If you are not making the edibles, it’s important to ask the one who made it what kind of treats they are and how strong is a serving. Again, the person making this edible is most likely not a professional so be careful how much you eat because it is hard to know exactly how strong each dose is!

3. Know your Dose and Go Slow

You’ve probably heard the saying “Low and Slow” more than once before, as it is truly something everyone should remember. No matter whether you’re a cannabis connoisseur or a newbie, it’s always best to start with the lowest possible dosage and increase from there to achieve the desired high you’re looking for. A couple good things to remember: 1) You can always add more THC but you can never take it away. 2) Edibles can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hour to kick in, so make sure you wait before eating more!

4. Alcohol will Boost Marijuana Effects

On hot summer days there is often nothing quite like a cold beer or an iced cocktail, so make sure you are keeping in mind how much alcohol and cannabis you and guests are consuming together. Some of us may know the term crossfading which is described by Vice as the mixing of alcohol and weed, but most of us don’t know exactly how our body reacts to this. A study shows once alcohol is in your system, it can boost marijuana’s effects by opening up your blood vessels, allowing more THC to be absorbed. If this is something that makes you nervous, then here are some CBD mocktails we have created.

5. Surround Yourself with Good Friends

Listen, we’ve all been there: someone can have a particular reaction to a certain edible or a panic attack after the pipe is passed around. No two people will have the exact same trip and this is why it’s good to ensure you have solid pals around who will look out for your best interests.

This includes: keeping friends hydrated with water, getting friends to a safe, comfortable place and most importantly, reassuring them that they’re going to be okay. That’s what friends are for!

6. Create an Environment for Everyone

Before inviting or arriving at anyone’s home, send a quick note to check in and find out what everyone’s stance is on smoking. This will show that you clearly respect the home. If everyone gives the a-okay to consume the proceed accordingly, if not, then give or ask about a designated smoking area especially if there will be children present.

And always bring enough to smoke with other guests–sharing is caring.

7. Don’t Drive High

If there is one thing you and your friends should know, it’s the following: don’t toke and drive.

Even though cannabis legal, and you may not feel like it impairs you–it’s not worth the risk to yourself or others. Arrange for a designated driver, call a taxi, or order an Uber or Lyft at the end of the night, and stay safe!

8. Use CBD if you are too High

If at any point you are feeling too high, we suggest consuming CBD to counter the psychoactive properties of THC. Although THC and CBD can come from the same plant their effects are quite different and the way the interact is very interesting. We suggest to match the amount of CBD you will take to the amount of THC you consumed. Example: if you ate 2, 10mg THC edibles then take 20mg of CBD. This will help reduce any dysphoria bring you back to a nice calm state of mind.

Here are some of our CBD products that are great for on the go and if you want to learn more about how CBD & THC interact with one another you can check out this article.
